reason #2 is because they are cold.reason #3 is because it is a murky brown color.
reason #4 is because occasionally they fish bodies out of them.
but reason #1 not to swim in the canals is because all houseboat waste water, and i do mean ALL, goes directly into the canals.
You kids are so cute; and canals are sooo gross! Who knew? Love the blog! And good thinking with the beer for your 2 drunks, I don't think I would have thought of that way of getting rid of them.

i found out that the canals are flushed (a very appropriate term, i might add) on a regular basis. i can see the water change direction on a daily basis and i thought it was just a tidal thing but it seems them pump water through the canals regularly to get rid or all the, well, crap.
ReplyDeletei should add - you dont see things floating in the water (well you do see garbage and occasional film). but i have never seen anything like a baby ruth bar floating around...
